VOV.VN - A photo exhibition on Vietnam and Cuba’s close friendship and solidarity opened in Ho Chi Minh City on October 15 to mark the 58th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties whilst also celebrating the 150th anniversary of Cuba's National Culture Day and Vietnamese Women’s Day.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Nguyen Van Manh, vice president of the HCM City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) said despite the great geographic distance, Vietnam and Cuba share a lot of similarities in ideology, symbolizing through the images of two leaders: late President Ho Chi Minh and President Fidel Castro.
Photos at the exhibition feature long lasting traditional ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries, said Mr Manh.
Indira Lopez Arguelles, Cuban Consul General to HCM City, said the exhibition aims to promote the image of Cuba, further tighten bilateral ties and honour women of the two countries on the Vietnamese Women’s Day (October 20).
The event which will run until October 30 displays 68 documentary photos of important landmarks in Vietnam and Cuba bilateral ties. Pictures of exchange visits from Party and State leaders of the two countries and photos of Vietnamese and Cuban women and children with two beloved Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro are also on show.
