Local officials of the Vietnamese provinces of Quang Tri, Dong Nai, Long An and Ba Ria-Vung Tau promoted their advantages and potential in San Francisco July 13-14, within the framework of the Vietnam Promotion Roadshow in the US (VPR USA-2017).
The delegation had meetings with Mayor of the city Edwin Lee and Senior Policy Advisor to Governor Jerry Brown of California State Ken Alex.
During the meetings, Nguyen Van Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council of central Quang Tri province, said that this is the first time the VPR has been organised, and the US, including San Francisco, was selected as the first destination.
This move is to realise the outcomes of the official visit to the country made by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in May, he stated.
He affirmed that the Vietnamese Government has created all favourable conditions for the two countries’ localities and enterprises to intensify cooperation.
For their part, localities have backed the government’s sound polices, and actively connected and speed up the implementation of Vietnam-US collaborative projects, he said.
The hosts expressed their delight at positive development of Vietnam’s socio-economic situation as well as in the two countries’ relations.
They confirmed that California State and San Francisco attach importance to fostering the US-Vietnam comprehensive partnership through cooperation with Vietnamese localities, pledging to facilitate the expansion of bilateral relations.
Leaders and representatives from enterprises of the Vietnamese localities then attended a connectivity roundtable with the business community of San Francisco Bay Area.
Earlier, the four provinces, together with Hanoi and northern Thai Nguyen province, visited Washington and Virginia States.
