According to initial reports, customs officers at Nam Can international border gate worked in collaboration with police forces in Ky Son district to catch Lau Ba Po, 27, red-handed while he was illegally transporting drugs cross the border at 10:20.
In total, police were able to seize 438 pills of synthetic drugs at the scene.
Lau Ba Po, residing in Huoi Poc village, Nam Can commune of Ky Son district, admitted that he had bought the drugs from Laos and had been attempting to smuggle them into Vietnam with the intent of selling them to Vietnamese people.
