The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the HCM City on May 16 announced its plan for the summer voluntary campaign, which runs until August 12.
This year, the campaign will be launched in 24 districts of the city, along with some neighbouring provinces, Tho Chu island of the southern province of Kien Giang and localities in Laos and Cambodia.
Some 18,000 youths will participate in an event scheduled from June 24 to August 12, aiming to provide life skills for students, workers and help former drug addicts return to society.
Besides, an event is slated for July 8 through August 12 expecting the participation of 50,000 youths. The young volunteers will support the building of new-style rural areas, improve social welfare and raise awareness about the country’s sea and islands.
Activities on environmental protection and climate change adaptation will be carried out between June 3 and July 1, with 40,000 participants.
Meanwhile, starting mid-July, about 60,000 students from universities in the city will join hands to improve and concretise more than 40km of roads, as well as upgrade 10 bridges and build six water filter systems.
In addition, an event to support candidates for university entrance exams will begin on June 17.
