VOV.VN - The Vietnamese community in India and Nepal held the first congress on June 18 in New Delhi to discuss the establishment of the General Association of Overseas Vietnamese in the two countries.
At the congress, Ambassador Ton Sinh Thanh said that this is an important event and new development of the OV community in India and Nepal.
Participants discussed specific measures to further unite the OVs in the two nations and encourage them to engage in useful activities towards homeland and provide mutual support.
The ambassador said the Party, State and government always consider the OVs community an indispensable part of the nation and are ready to protect their legitimate rights.
He said he hopes that the OV community will further contribute to strengthening traditional ties between Vietnam and India and Nepal and to the development of the homeland.
The congress agreed to set up the OV General Association and its executive board with 7 members and the consultative board with 3 members.
In the future, this organization will organize activities and programs to unite OV in India and Nepal and teach Vietnamese language to OV children.
