VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam had a working session with the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) in Hanoi on February 17.
PM Phuc affirmed the government's willingness to listen to any experts’ view on ideas for national development.
He recognized the union member’s consultancy on national social economic development policies and programs.
“I appreciate the union’s becoming a key factor in ensuring science and technology’s driving force in modern socialist-oriented market economy development with expanded international integration towards sustainable growth. I praised Vietnamese scientists’ research and contribution to social economic development," the government leaders said.
The PM urged the Union to mobilize overseas Vietnamese experts’ contributions to national development while raising public awareness on science and technology.
It is also essential to create favourable conditions for scientists, particularly young researchers, to foster their enthusiasm for scientific research, he said.
The VUSTA has 141 member associations, 430 affiliated scientific and technological organisations, and 101 newspapers, with over 2.8 million members.
The union has provided consultancy for a number of key national strategic projects such as the North-South Railway Project and the planning scheme for Hanoi capital through 2030 with a vision to 2050.
