VOV.VN - Vietnam recorded zero new novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases during the past 24 hours, keeping the infection tally at 1,046, while the overall number of fully recovered patients rose further to 755, according to a report by the Ministry of Health on the afternoon of September 3.
Among the total infections 691 are locally-transmitted cases, 355 of which were imported into the nation before being immediately placed into quarantine upon arrival in line with current regulations.
Furthermore, the number of infections linked to the central city of Da Nang, the country’s largest and most serious COVID-19 outbreak hotspot, has risen to 551 since July 25.
On the same day as the announcement of the latest figures, an additional nine people who had previously been diagnosed with COVID-19 were released from hospital after going on to make a full recovery from the virus, boosting the country’s total number of recoveries to 755.
Moreover, the confirmed COVID-19 death count rose to 35 following the death of a patient in Da Nang on September 3.
According to figures released by the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, among the active cases currently in the process of receiving treatment, a total of 99 have gone on to test negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the COVID-19 either once or multiple times.
Following these latest updates, the country's overall COVID-19 tally now stands at 1,046, with 35 COVID-19 patients passing away due to various chronic conditions combined with COVID-19 related complications.
There are 63,651 people having close contact with confirmed cases or coming from pandemic-hit areas under quarantine at present, including 1,009 at hospitals, and the remainder at other quarantine sites, and at home.
During a meeting held on the same day, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control underlined the need to renew its testing strategy, with the aim of boosting capacity in an effort to live long-term with the epidemic, especially as the country has sufficient technology and biological products to carry out all necessary testing.
