VOV.VN - The head coach of the Vietnamese men’s national football team Park Hang-seo on March 26 provided US$5,000 in cash to fund the country’s ongoing fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic.

His donation comes in response to appeals by the Vietnamese Prime Minister and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee to support community efforts to halt the further spread of the COVID-19.
Speaking following his donation, Park Hang-seo stated that countries throughout the world are working hard to combat the COVID-19, adding that his donation will serve to encourage people who have been directly hit by the epidemic.
The national team’s head coach also called on all people to come together as a means of strengthening solidarity and putting in every effort to end the epidemic.
In collaboration with the Vietnam Football Federation, the manager appeared in a video clip aimed at guiding people on how to properly wash their hands and maintain high hygiene standards.
The donation comes after a number of footballers nationwide chose to donate to the fund for COVID-19 prevention and control.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai FC striker Nguyen Van Toan raised a total of VND150 million to assist the country’s epidemic fight, whilst defender Bui Tien Dung of Viettel FC and his wife presented 300 protective outfits, 300 gloves, and 300 shoes to military forces.
Moreover, Hanoi FC players also delivered hundreds of millions of Vietnamese Dong to the national fund which aims to contain the COVID-19 epidemic.
