In their two previous group matches, futsal club Thai Son Nam managed to defeat Al Rayyan SC of Qatar and AGMK FC from Uzbekistan. The Vietnamese team only required a draw to top Group B, and managed to beat expectations with a win.

In the game’s opening minutes, Thai Son Nam showed their dominance as their foreign player Kazuya Shimizu opened the scoring in the 4th minute before doubling the lead to make it  2-0 in the 8th minute.

Pham Duc Hoa helped to increase the score to 3-0 in the 11th minute.

With this advantage, mistakes began to creep into their game and Naft Al Wasat futsal club took full advantage of this to quickly score two goals for the Iraqi club. The first half ended 3-2 in favour of Thai Son Nam.

The second half saw the Iraqi side continue to pressure Vietnamese goalkeeper Ho Van Y. However, Thai Son Nam held firm and managed to snatch a goal through Vu Duc Tung in the 26th minute.

This was met by a fierce response from the team from Iraq as Muheb Aldeen and Farhad Tavakoli scored to make the score 4-4.

Finishing the game stronger, Pham Duc Hoa and Van Y both scored to see a final score of 6-4 in favour of the Vietnamese side.

Thai Son Nam futsal club finished top of Group B after winning all three of their matches, they therefore advance to the quarter-finals of the AFC Futsal Club Championship.

They will take on the second-placed team from Group A, which will be decided when Shenzhen Nanling Tielang FC of China face Star Fs Seoul of the Republic of Korea, and Port FC of Thailand take on FC Erem of Kyrgyzstan.
