The men’s national football team of Vietnam remains at 136th place in the FIFA ranking in March 2017, according to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).
The team did not compete in any important match since the beginning of this year so its position keeps unchanged, said the VFF.
The Vietnamese team ranks 22nd in Asia and 3rd in Southeast Asia, following the Philippines (No. 124 in the FIFA ranking) and Thailand (No. 127).
Other teams in Southeast Asian, namely Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Myanmar, stand at 161st, 163rd, 167th and 172nd places in the FIFA ranking, respectively.
In Asia, Iran is still the strongest team, followed by the Republic of Korea, Japan and Australia.
The world’s top 10 positions are also unchanged with Argentina, Brazil, Germany and Chile taking the highest places.
The national team of Vietnam will gather on March 20 to prepare for a friendly match with Chinese Taipei. Later, it will play in the qualifying round of Asian Cup 2019, in which Vietnam is in Group C alongside Jordan, Afghanistan and Cambodia.
The results of these matches will affect the team’s position in the FIFA ranking in April, the VFF said.
