These increased inspections come following the Border Guard Command of Quang Ngai province working in collaboration alongside other forces to intensify controls over tourists arriving in Ly Son island, with each passenger having their body temperature checked before being permitted to go on the high speed-boat that travels to the island.

As for the island itself, accommodation facilities have been active in deploying preventive measures aimed at combating the epidemic by strengthening clean-up activities, spraying disinfectants locally, while staff at accommodation establishments are now required to don face masks when coming into close contact with visitors.

A manager of a guesthouse situated in An Vinh commune stated that a number of accommodation facilities have offered discounts of between 15 per cent and 20 per cent on room rates in an effort to attract customers, as room occupancy rates have suffered declines in recent weeks.

At present, Ly Son island receives approximately 1,000 visitors each day, including between 100 and 200 foreign arrivals.

Le Van Ninh, Vice Chairman of People's Committee of Ly Son district in Quang Ngai province, said the locality has come up with a plan that deals with any suspected cases of the COVID–19 infection.

This will be done by choosing the cultural house and health stations in An Hai commune as places to isolate any suspected people.
